[fsug-tvm] Help request | USB programming in C

Hi all,
I need to code a program to communicate with a h/w device (its an RF
transmitter) via USB port. I've some USB 2.0 manuals with me. But no
idea how to program it in C. I think it will be more specific if I say
I've to create a program to drive LEDs via USB 2.0 port in C. If I'm
able to drive LEDs, then it will be easy to do the rest. I'm using gcc
4.4.1 on karmic. Can anyone help me out with this?

Make sure the modem is a visible AP. First of all configure your modem
to an 'always-connected' settings. This will help fixing wi-fi issues
fast. If your modem is configured, you have to check your wireless
card. So please get your name of the card here. You can use  lspci |
grep "Ethernet"  for this (Just paste the relevant parts).

About streaming...
I dont think youtube is actually "streaming" the video, but its just
"download & playing".
You might have noticed that the downloading continues (pale red seekbar)
even it you hit pause button. The flash plugin within the browser have
'splitter' capability, which allows playing truncated (partially downloaded)
files.

I've noticed that the download speed of the youtube video is almost equal to
my ordinary download speed of my browser. The video downloader you are
talking about might be a sort of "download accelerator" to get higher
download speeds.

For me, slow download is better, so that I can evaluate the quality,
contents etc of video before it leeches my usage limits...

Which Linux distribution are you talking about? For egs: Ubuntu,
Fedora, OpenSUSE... Acoordingly we can tell you how to download
packages and install.

Package management in GNU/Linux is a little different from windows based
O.S. Basically all the distros share the common source code, but builds are
different. All the generic executables binaries are also the same. Packages
are used in GNU/Linux for providing better security and stability. Debian
based systems uses 'debian package mangement system' which packs programs in
.deb archives. Similarly Redhat based distributions uses 'Redhat package
manager' packs in .rpm files. And there is architecture depended builds also
(like x64, powerpc etc). If you need to install softwares on a system
without Internet connection, you have to resolve the dependencies. If a
packge is independent (static) you can just install it using package manager
based on the distribution. If its ubuntu or ubuntu based distro, you can use
'aptoncd' alternatively. I don't know if similar softwares exists on Redhat
based distros. Slackware and childs does not use a package mangement system
at all. You have to manually fix the dependencies.
