ty for the replies..I have seen an internet connection on one of my friend's
friend home.. They are using a Tata broadband conenction which has the
feature
:1. from 9pm to 9am Free of cost
2.day time usage 10rs/-hour
3.  2mbs download speed.

any one know about this tariff of tata connection??

I am sure there are many people here who can advise you on such matters.
This is a good idea. Please go ahead. But tell me, which is your
college? Have you got permission from whoever has to give permission for
such activities? There is an organisation in Thiruvananthapuram called
SPACE (http://www.space-kerala.org) that has been advocating Free
Software and promoting such cells in colleges. If you need help or
ideas, please feel free to contact cont...@space-kerala.org. Wish you
success in your efforts.

The best way is to use libusb. It has even a python binding.

You can try libusb. It has even bindings for python.

Though the Asianet scheme is 475, we have to pay around 520/- each month
BSNL is better than Asianet in my experience

Also Asianet, being not a point to point to connection, slows down when the
number of users in the same locality increases which is not the case with
connection like BSNL
