Usually happens when you don't have enough space left on the disk, try executing

and check for the space usage.

I don't think you have any perfect alternatives. We are still years behind
a good battery technology.

But I am guessing your question is about replacing android itself, so no.

However since mozilla is trying to push firefox OS to the general market,
you could wait till then and go for it. Or you could grab one of the
replicant supported devices[1] (Completely free version of android - backed
by FSF) and replace the stock firmware. The devices are relatively old, and
last time I checked ebay offers some good deal on those hardwares.

Happy Hacking.

Re: [fsug-tvm] Good VoIP client

2013-10-07 Thread Dhananjay Balan
You should checkout SFL (http://sflphone.org/) and blink (
http://icanblink.com/blink-pro.phtml), both provide a better ui and are
actively maintained, also I am surprised nobody mentioned twinkle, it might
look ugly but it gets the job done and much more stable than any other voip
client (only competitor that comes close is telephone for mac).

Re: [fsug-tvm] Re: Hardware Freedom Day 2013 celebration

2013-04-19 Thread Dhananjay Balan
Hi,

I have printed some copies and posted them on the notice boards already. :)
Also did some mouth publicity. We are organizing a small summer school for
high school students at priyadarashini planetarium tomorrow morning. I
believe they are the right audience for this event. If we can make some
flyers, I can distribute it there and hopefully pull some more crowd.

I do not agree to the view that GNU/Linux machines are not affected yet,
there are a lot of exploits one could find in a GNU/Linux box[1]. Of course
they are getting patched, and the usually boxes which dont run updates are
the victims.

But GNU/Linux, or all of the *NIX are yet to see any mentionable amount of
virus/malware. Its defenetly harder to write them than for the M$ but not
impossible[2].
A virus is a nuisance, in usual cases it doesnt actually generate any money
for the developer, people write it for fun and I belive *NIX will never
have more than couple of them because,

* Its a less popular platform among general public ( for *NIX users, system
is never a blackbox.)
* There is no actual money in developing one this hard.
* Things get fixed too fast.

Re: [fsug-tvm] Single Data Partition. (GNU/Linux)

2011-12-06 Thread Dhananjay Balan
Hi,

Creating partions not my problem. I was getting frustrated with my file
organisational skills, so thought I would put everything together and
create some kind of index.

I created one big ext4 to store everything and now Im trying out indexing
systems, frankly I was looking for something that does exactly clone
spotlight in mac. So far the results are not good and some findings are
pretty ugly- like neopmuk in my kde never worked.

At this time I am settled with recoll, which uses xapian as its backend.

Thanks for replying.

I was wondering if theres any problem with using the remaining space as
single partion to store my entire data. has anyone done it before? What are
the problems that can arise?

Re: [fsug-tvm] Where to look for the path of the current wallpaper.

2011-10-27 Thread Dhananjay Balan
Hai,

I cant give you a direct answer, but kde settings are kept in ~/.kde4, So I
did

In home I did,

grep -rH wallpaper .kde4/*

which gave me

.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc:userswallpapers=
.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc:wallpapercolor=56,111,150
.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc:wallpaperposition=0
.kde4/share/config/plasma-overlay-appletsrc:wallpaperplugin=image
.kde4/share/config/plasma-overlay-appletsrc:wallpaperpluginmode=SingleImage
.kde4/share/config/plasma-overlay-appletsrc:slidepaths=/usr/share/wallpapers/
.kde4/share/config/plasma-overlay-appletsrc:userswallpapers=
.kde4/share/config/plasma-overlay-appletsrc:wallpaper=/usr/share/wallpapers/Ethais
.kde4/share/config/plasma-overlay-appletsrc:wallpapercolor=0,0,0
.kde4/share/config/plasma-overlay-appletsrc:wallpaperposition=0
...
...
...

I cant boot into it currently due to a xorg issue (being lazy) so cant cross
check if it works.

Thought it might be of some help.
