Hi, If you want to send fax from Ubuntu system, you can use 'efax' and 'gtk-efax'. However, you will need a fax modem for that. Instead, it seems that your printer/scanner can act like a normal fax machine - independently from the connected system. It seems to have a separate phone line jack for this purpose. But, I don't think it can be used to send fax from the connected system. @ Junise: I believe that hplip and hplip-gui are the s/w you are looking for. Here is the page for hplip support for hp officejet 4355: http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/models/officejet/officejet_4300_series.html It says that GUI support is not available (I don't know what that means exactly). But Fax is available - with the following statement: "Fax supported means that PC initiated fax send is supported using hp- sendfax, once an appropriate CUPS fax queue is set up. Fax support varies on Linux distributions, based on the availability of python- dbus version 0.80 or greater (versions before 0.80 will not work with HPLIP)." I really don't know about the CUPS fax queue they are talking about. Anyway, please let us know about the progress.
