Hi, There is not enough detail to suggest a final solution. However, you can check this first- Open up the ALSA mixer panel (double click the speaker icon on the notification area on top panel). Then make sure that volume controls for 'Master', 'PCM' and 'Front' are all set to maximum. When 'PCM' control is at lowest, it often gives out some crackling sound when any audio is playing. H... I too am facing this issue - I started getting this day-before-yesterday - I wonder if there were any sound driver updates sent out recently - I regularly update my computer with the update manager. I did open up the ALSA mixer panel but I was not sure what the various tabs were for so I set only the master to maximum and I noticed the crackling sound. Thanks for the solution Gokul - I will try it out and let you know how it goes. There were no ALSA updates recently- but a gstreamer update was there. That is unlikely to have caused much problems, though I am not 100% certain. I wonder if ganesh had an update too. Anyway, we will check that too if this doesn't work. If that is the case, please include info about your sound cards in your next post. Use the following command on a terminal get that info: lspci | grep Audio Regards, Gokul Das --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ "Freedom is the only law".
