Hi regarding BSDs, you install, configure and test the servers, and forget about it. It will be there forever. You should bitch at Intel. Guys should understand that it is not the OS but the licensing by particular vendors that makes driver integration difficult. I use nvidia chipset on all boxes and I never ran into problem with it. NVIDIA is still propriety but offers excellent support for BSD. FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD and Solaris are by far the best when it comes to kernel performance. Linux kernel is basically mad patch work. I am now working on building a custom OS with OpenBSD kernel and Debian userland. I got nvidia driver in FreeBSD (195,..), FreeBSD needs some work with audio drivers.
