Apparently, Violin memory has also launched a 500 gig one.

Curious to understand how the quest-for-RAM is going to shape up, given the
fact that facebook is running the entire user db in their gargantuan
servers(32TB in RAM!). RAM gives only a linear speed-up O(n) , when
compared to efficient indexes which have O(log n).

heh - good one on the parted - I havent tried that - and about the resizing
partitions on the fly

I have had good success in the past with non / FS - for example imagine the
following - you have a FS on a logical drive on a RAID1 mirror with 2*36G
drives - now you want to upgrade the drives to 2*72G - you replace the first
drive let it resilver then the second - then fdisk --> go to expert mode -
change the # of cylinders for the LD and then edit the partition size
.ext2online bingo!

Cheers!

[Ilugc] [OT] ekiga setup ...

2008-05-24 Thread Arun Khan
I am trying to use ekiga but have not had much success.

During setup of the ekiga client it correctly detects that my system is
behind a NAT and configures it appropriately. The client is able to
login to "ekiga.net" and I guess I am "online" because I am notified of
incoming calls.

However, when I accept the call, I cannot hear the far party nor can the
far party hear me.

My network setup is as follows:

 |
  ekiga client---| |
*|---|
+|- Internet (ADSL)

ekiga client is 192.168.1.68 (Ubuntu 8.04, ekiga v2.0.12)

* Linksys WiFi AP - LAN port is 192.168.1.1, WAN port is 192.168.0.9
(Nodes on LAN NAT'd on the WAN port)

+ DLink DSL502T router/modem - LAN port is 192.168.0.1, WAN port is dyn.
IP (PPPoE)
(Nodes on LAN NAT'd on the WAN port)

Would appreciate pointers from anyone who has used ekiga successfully -
please share your setup.

TIA

Or see http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Feisty#Samba_Server
Also, http://samba.netfirms.com/ is quite helpful
And http://us3.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/ provides lots of
