My experience with an Acer 5542, circa Dec. 2009; it did not play well with Ubuntu and Fedora but worked fine with openSUSE. I suggest you try a couple of other Linux distros like Fedora, openSUSE and settle with the one that works for your model. In Debian based system, How do install without dependencies using apt-get dpkg I doubt if you can do that with apt-get. You can however use download only option which will download the packages. On 6/13/11, Ganesh Kumar bugcy...@gmail.com wrote: Hi Guys, How do I make apt-get ignore some dependencies?. In Debian based system, How do install without dependencies using apt-get dpkg Please guide me. First explain what it is that you are trying to achieve. Packaging systems have a purpose; one of them is to keep your installation in a sane state. It is not advisable to take a DEB package from one distro (e.g. Ubuntu) and try to install it in Debian just because both have the DEB packaging system. The same applies for distros based on RPM packaging. Each distro has it's own set up package dependencies and it is not advisable to break the dependencies. Also, do not cross post such type of queries that will likely generate responses. You may be a member of all the groups but members of the respective groups are not necessarily present in other groups. In such case, you should take the time to summarize the responses and post them to all the groups. -- Arun Khan A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
