[Ilugc] Suggest tools for STAAD
Dear Luggies, A friend of mine has this following query and he needs answer from our community, Please suggest him and here is his query within quotes: i need to use software for drafting, 3D modelling and rendering then more importantly Analysis and designs( Column load carrying capacity etc.). These are the softwares which are used in windows (Auto cadd - drafting, 3D modeling - REVIT/3DS max, structural analysis - STAAD PRO).. As i use linuxi couldn't use those and am searching for the equivalent softwares in linux. I have already shown him QCAD, SweetHome3D and am not sure about Blender. He needs a STAAD Program. -- Regards, Prasanna Venkadesh PuduvaiLUG (puduvai Linux Users Group): http://puduvailug.wordpress.com/ FOSS Jobs all over India: http://fossjobs.in ___ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc

I haven't used any of these tools, but from the experience of my friends, QCad is good for drafting. Also they use OpenFoam for analysis of fluid dynamics and such stuff (I'm not sure if that's what your friend needs).
