Not that I know Rails better. But I am curious to know why you want
to add versioning for your models.

RMS:

It looks like you've achieved a lot, at the practical level.

Do these labs teach the students the ethical ideas of the free
software movement? That is the next thing to do.

Baskar: Though I have used the term Linux / FOSS in few places,

RMS: Yes, it is disappointing. You could have said GNU/Linux and free
software yourself when answering the questions.

Or did you do that, and they changed it?

Simply do the tests with Gsmartctl from a live cd (like parted magic).
 It reports very well.

Is this a GUI front end to smartctl (which I have mentioned earlier)?

1. Start a new thread -- your question, although cron related, is of
a different nature.
2. Trim your quotation. Your post has *nothing* to do with the
original discussion.

Please look at the meaning of '*' in man 5 crontab. Every minute
(0-59), Every hour (0-23) on the first day of every month. Day of
month overrides day of week (in your case).

It will run repeatedly on the 1st of the month. Probably not something
you intended.

If you want to run something *once* a month, use:

0 0 1 **user/path/to/script

Alternately you can use this more readable syntax:

@monthlyuser/path/to/script

See man 5 crontab as Arun has suggested.

Come to think of it, if the script takes more than a minute to
complete you may have a nightmare on your hands :)
