Re: [Ilugc] M Sc (CS-FOSS) Online Program - Anna University

2012-03-02 Thread Joseph
HI all,
I have been closely watching the syllabus and course details of anna
university. In this new course.. I think only the first semeter has new
topics. rest of them are taken from the MCA and MSC course syllabus.
Though course seems to be demanding Univerisity has no idea about how to
go after the first semester.I was happy to hear about the course but
become sad when I looked at the fees tab. I feel there is no difference
when you compare the price with a commercial institiute course fee..

Yes. The syllabus for the other semesters are not provided. Only the course
 names are given here http://cde.annauniv.edu/MSCFOSS/Curricula.html
Also some of the courses are lab courses. There is no mention on how these
 will happen.

The fee structure comes around 25,000 per semester.. In my opinion, this
is too high.. I doubt, whether this would be affordable to many..

Anna University starts a Correspondence Course as M. Sc. (Computer

 Check the announcement here.
 http://cde.annauniv.edu/MSCFOSS/

Two Year M. Sc. (Computer Science – Free/Open Source Software) of Anna
University Chennai is unique in many ways -

It is the only degree-oriented program of a leading Indian
technological university focused sharply on Free/Open Source Software
(FOSS) that has revolutionised the field of computing the world over.
In the process of becoming a CS Professional through this program, one
also acquires mastery over a wide range of products, tools,
technologies and approaches thrown up by the FOSS movement that
dominate the global SW/IT Industry today.
It is the only such program of a leading Indian technological
university delivered entirely Online with its well recognised benefits
of flexible interactivelearning unconstrained by geographical
limitations, suited especially for working people.

As a member of the nationally coordinated NRCFOSS Project of the Dept.
of Inf. Tech., Govt. Of India, Anna University has been pioneering
introduction of FOSS in Higher Education in the country through its
AU-KBC Research Centre. The M Sc (CS-FOSS) Program is built on this
rich experience and expertise, with the AU-KBC Research Centre serving
 as its Coordinating Centre.

[Ilugc] How to access internal memory of Nokia X6 phone at block level ?

2012-03-02 Thread Shrinivasan T
Hi,

I deleted a file from a Nokia X6 phone.
That file was in the internal memory of the phone.

We can recover the deleted files from the memory cards using the methods told in
http://goinggnu.wordpress.com/2008/02/14/recover-deleted-files-from-memory-card/

I connected the phone in ubuntu laptop using the usb cable.
It has 15G inbuilt SD storage and some phone memory.

It is showing only the 15G mass storage when connected to computer.

I found a way to access the internal memory.
here it is.
http://www.siltala.net/2007/07/25/mounting-a-nokia-phone-a-little-bit-easier/

It uses obexftp tools to access it. So, I can able to see the existing
files in the memory.
The internal memory is mounted as a fuse folder.

So, can not implement 'dd' command to that folder.

I have to access the internal memory at block level.

Please share some suggestions to do so.

Thanks.

Does NRC-FOSS has any role in framing the syllabus? If NOT, then who
exactly is framing the syllabus?

no - although it is a good practice to license an app you develop with
the same license as the parent app, you are free to do what you want.
