Please blog this or contrib as HowTo. Mention all the *gotchas* as
well and mention the distro+version as package names can be different
across distros.

IMO, The article was more about Apple and its IP policy in general. The
comments sections in the article throw more light on this. Although an
interesting read, I thought it was OT. I could be wrong.

RMS summarized it the best on Steve Jobs death by quoting a Chicago Mayor,

YOU Broadband must have given you a "device" which has two ports.

At the least, you must provide what your YOU device look like.

1. One port terminates the cable coming from YOU and another port must
an ethernet RJ45 port which connects to your desktop with an CAT 5/6
ethernet cable. A snapshot of the same posted on
will help a lot to confirm what you are dealing
with.

2. For MS Windows they must have given you a PPoE client. A
screenshot of the Windows UI posted on imagebin.com would also help.

3. With the above information from the Windows client, you can
configure the same from the NetworkManager UI under DSL click on "Add"
and you will get another UI window with several tabs. Main tab has
the userid/password which would be the same as that in Windows. Under
PPP tab you will have to select the items that are enabled in your
Windows client. This is for KDE. In GNOME NetworkManager applet
things may be laid a bit differently.

You may have to experiment with a few settings before you can
successfully connect. I leave that as an exercise for you to learn
networking skills.

My suggestions:
1. Limit the no of entries to 5 in the 1st page OR limit the
characters per entry.
2. Put "join the list" at the end of List Guide line page. Otherwise,
we may get emails like, "plz remove my email id.."
3. Fix the blog tags (Announcements, Event, MoM, fdp, workshop, ..).
Otherwise we will end up with 100s of tags.

Bye :)

run the command 'hostname' in the terminal and share us the output.

If it returns nothing, setup a hostname for your machine and install
the software again.

Above line tells it all. After installing dpkg tries to configure ssmtp. Here
it fails, probably unable to get hostname
