It definitely is a win that gnu/linux is the base operating system.
However, IMHO, in systems of this type, the integration tools on top of
the base operating system weigh more. Most of the performance gains come
from how those tools are built. Not sure how many of such tools are Free
Software.

With gnu/linux in the bottom and a whole stack of proprietary stuff on
top is not exactly a win for the community, IMHO.

Its a matter of displaying the query results. Not sure where exactly you
are facing a problem. Probably a code snippet should get more help.

First of all +1 on a proper subject line. If you continue with your
generic "hello" then you are *not* following list guidelines.

This should come from your functional specifications/requirements.
Prima facie, it appears you are coding first and your design (UI/UX)
is an after thought.

> i prayed GOOGLE GOD no result

Google is not God. The search engines are designed by humans and
are subject to flaws just as we are.

Having said this, searches are based on key words/phrases. You have
not shared what key words you used in your search effort(s). Perhaps
the problem lies there in.

You need to establish your identity.

Are you priya or are you purushothaman? Some people use an online
handle but they are consistent with it though.

To me it appears like an identity crisis for whoever is "lobes...@gmail.com"

It has lost it ability to support database as it needs to work on analyzing
the traffic which is captured. barnyard2 is the program which takes the
output of snort and updates the mysql database.

[Ilugc] ToD (Snort)

2012-11-15 Thread Dhana Sekar
Tool of the Day: Snort

Snort is a libpcap-based packet sniffer/logger which can be used as
a lightweight network intrusion detection system. It features rules
based logging and can perform content searching/matching in
addition to being used to detect a variety of other attacks and
probes, such as buffer overflows, stealth port scans, CGI attacks,
SMB probes, and much more. Snort has a real-time alerting
capability, with alerts being sent to syslog, a separate "alert" file, or
even to a Windows computer via Samba.
This package provides the plain-vanilla version of Snort and does
not provide database (available in snort-pgsql and snort-mysql)
support.

version: snort 2.9.2-3ubuntu1
size: 2.1 MB to download, 11.2 MB when installed
