[Ilugc] software freedom day

2011-09-16 Thread Chandan Gupta
hello everybody,

I am new to Chennai. I was in Mysore before and had been celebrating sfd
with fsmk ( free software movement karnataka). I hardly know anybody in
Chennai.
I would love to know where can I join the celebration today. What are the
different places this event is being celebrated?

A quick reply would be appreciated so that I can come there. :)
Happy software freedom day!

Regards,
Chandan

Re: [Ilugc] phpmyadmin login issues

2011-09-01 Thread Chandan Gupta
Error: POST Content-Length of 91 bytes exceeds the limit of -1048576 bytes
in Unknown on line 0, referer: http://localhost/phpmyadmin/index.php

Problem and solution:

On some 32bit systems PHP will take the memory settings like 2000M or 2G and
convert it to the integer number of bytes by not performing a boundary
check. A number starting at 2G or 2048M will be -2147483648 bytes then.

Some PHP versions cap this at the top, so it won't go into negative numbers
(that is the 32 bit signed integer limit).

If you want to achieve the maximum possible number of bytes on such a system
then, use *2147483647*. This is equal to two gigabytes minus one byte.

Alternatively if you need to deal with large data, consider a 64bit system.

Additionally you should consider the following:

According to PHP Manual the memory_limit setting is the more important one.
If it does not offer enough memory, the post-data size-check then will pass,
but PHP would not have enough memory to actually handle the post-data. You
will get another error than, that the memory exceeded. So when you configure
your PHP, take care that post_max_size is smaller than memory_limit.

In your example the memory_limit is 128M, so it can not process post-data of
a size larger than ~128 Megabyte.

So fixing the limits my problem is solved :)

Cheers...

[Ilugc] phpmyadmin login issues

2011-08-31 Thread Chandan Gupta
this is seriously irritating. after going through blogs, stackoverflow and
others I couldnot find solution to this problem. Or may be I am missing a
simple thing.

I was uploading about 8 gb dumped file to a database and it got interrupted
due to system restart. after then I am unable to login to phpmyadmin.
the login redirects me to http://localhost/phpmyadmin/index.php . the login
credentials are correct.
I am not sure if the interruption of upload made a difference. I can log in
to cli mysql and do everything. but not through browser. I checked with
other browsers too but no luck.

any idea would be appreciated.

[Ilugc] OpenDNS

2011-08-26 Thread Chandan Gupta
The DNS (Domain Name System) is the phonebook of the Internet. When you
enter a website into a browser, it's DNS that finds the optimal machine to
serve that website to you. Without it, browsing as we know it would not be
possible.

Open DNS serves 30 billion DNS requests to millions of customers every day,
with plenty of capacity to spare. You have been probably using DNS service
of your Internet Service Provider (ISP) which was default /etc/resolv.conf
setting, but ISPs sometimes have notoriously unreliable and slow service.
Switching to OpenDNS gives you best output.

OpenDNS are:

nameserver208.67.222.222
nameserver208.67.220.220
nameserver208.67.222.220
nameserver208.67.220.222

how to set up:

edit /etc/resolv.conf file and change the nameserver.
you can also alternatively add google's public DNS which are
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

 :)

the internet connections is stable for sure because same time when other

its problem with laptop not with connection. coz the same wire works well

[Ilugc] a weird internet problem

2010-10-01 Thread chandan gupta
Hi all,
We are using BSNL internet connection wire. 8 ports are available for the
connection while 6 laptops are connected.

A weird thing is happening with it recently.
The internet in one of the laptop just stops connecting while the port and
the wire are all correct... when the same wire is connected to another
laptop
the internet works well...

And this happens in sometimes my laptop, the other day in my frens and the
third day in another fren and again in mine.

here are some outputs when the internet doesnt work but all other stuffs are
fine, may be it ll help in finding errors...

Re: [Ilugc] mount failed.. ubuntu 10.04

2010-05-09 Thread chandan gupta
The problem got solved when I edited the /dos and /windows line from /etc/fstab.
In fact I deleted those two lines from there as suggested. Now my
ubuntu boots without any such mount error message.

Re: [Ilugc] mount failed.. ubuntu 10.04

2010-05-09 Thread chandan gupta
well, I had ubuntu 9.10 and window7 earlier. and one more partition for
sharing files.
but after that I formatted full disk and make four partitions, one in which
I kept window xp, two nothing and one ubuntu. while installing ubuntu (after
windows) it asked to fix the mount point for those two partition which were
empty. so I gave one as /dos and one as /windows. They dont contain any data
in it.

about editing that file. that file is readonly. I tried with vi but couldnot
do. please clear the command if any to edit it.

Thanks.

[Ilugc] mount failed.. ubuntu 10.04

2010-05-08 Thread chandan gupta
>From the day I installed ubuntu 10.04 I am facing this problem. was trying
to sort out through googling and irc but couldnot be succesful.
when I boot my system to lucid it shows some error as (with the logo of
ubuntu)

*ubuntu
. . . .
the disk dirve for /dos is not yet ready or not present
continue to wait; or press S to skip mounting or M for manual recovery*

when I press M I get something like this:

*Filesystem check or mount failed.
A maintainance shell will now be started
contorl-D will terminate this shell and contunue booting after re-trying
file systems.
Any further error will be ignored.

r...@chandan-laptop:~#:*

I tried some mounting commands but didnt work out.
For time sake I am just skipping the mounting and doing my job. Its in fact
affecting nothing. It shows all the partitions in linux.
after skipping once it show same problem for /window partition too. so i got
to skip twice.

please suggest.

Re: [Ilugc] PC studio

2010-04-21 Thread chandan gupta
Hey aishwarya,
If your mobile provider is from the one listed already in the list of
network connection then its fine. Otherwise you may have to choose "I
cannot find my service provider" there one thing you got to keep
manually is "APN" of your connection which you can find from your
mobile in "internet settings" under which plan you have activated.

For eg: if you are using aircel you have to input "aircelgprs"

and then you are done.

Thanks.
