One valid reason that i've practically experienced is the Graphics Drivers.
If you have ATI/Nvidia card, try installing Proprietory Drivers. If you just
have an Intel Graphics card instead, then you might have tough time clearing
this issue.

I also have a BSNL broadband connection. But I don't find any issue with
 the
speed. In fact it is faster now. Only issue I face is with the DNS. I have
changed the /etc/resolv.conf entry to point the opendns servers. After that
it is normal. I get a download speed of more than 50 KBps.

Changing in /etc/resolv.conf is a temporary fix, i guess. Most routers have
the option to configure the DNS IP's. Doing it there is a permanent
solution.

Also, I found Open-DNS servers blocking Social-Networking services some
times. So, i would suggest going for Google's Public DNS servers.

 clarity
 from the original video?

ffmpeg is simply the best command-line tool for any kind of
video-conversion. But, i prefer using ffmpeg using the Front-end GUI
winff.

sudo apt-get install winff

Once done, just open-up the UI - Set output format, folder
   - Choose input file(s)
for batch processing
   - You may override the
default bit-rate by specifying the values OR you can edit the existing
preset output formats.
   - Typically, a bit-rate
of 6000kbps should be sufficient enough for a HD video.

Why no body seems to understand the fact that we are not sending General
ILUGC emails in Tamil, but we are sending only the emails related to
Tamil-Courses / Translations in Tamil.

A translated course-work in Tamil is obviously of less interest to a
Non-Tamil reader. So, they can happily filter it out using a [Tamil]
filter.

No one has the authority to prevent the readers from getting the
 information.
This basic right of getting information should be maintained for all
 the list members.

No one is preventing rights of readers to know what they need to know. If a
Hind-related stuff is discussed in Hindi on this list, i would happily
filter it out. I don't feel anything bad in doing so.

Please give a solution to maintain the basic rights of all people.

There is no real problem in first-place. What kind of solution you need
then?

I completely agree to this. Discussing about a tamil-related work in Tamil

be translated to English in Email - is unacceptable.

So, we are not denying their rights / preventing them to know something
they need to be aware of.

 Please give solution for this.

Tamil - unarguably is one of the best languages of the world. And don't
forget, this mailing list is from the Capital of Tamil Nadu (Chennai)

If in this mailing-list, if a person is not allowed to type freely in Tamil,
then where he is going to get the rights?

Tagging [Tamil] in the Subject is a viable option which the end-users can
use to filter out such emails from the list.

Overall, I think only change Amachu can do is to use [Tamil] tag instead
of [தமிழ்]

Just adding [Tamil] tag (in English) would do as messages in Tamil are

that it will keep running even if I log out.

 I can also do
screen python myserver.py --- this will work even if I log out. How
 about
the first one. Or is there some other way (script in /etc/init.d/ for
 example
 to do this elegantly?)

Running in the screen is the safest and reliable way to keep running a
script after we logout. Steps are:

(i) type screen -- this will create a new screen and you'll be inside the
screen.
(ii) python myserver.py (while you're inside the screen)
(iii) Ctrl + A + d -- will take you out of the screen -detaches screen (but
the screen keeps running and also your script)
(iv) Now, you can logout of the server. Once you return, or anytime you need
to view the python process running, you need to RESUME the screen that is
detatched. You can do this by issuing : screen -ls (will list out all the
running screen's PID)
screen -x #PID of screen to resume

Note: You can do lot more than just running a single process in the screen.
man screen can explore those.
