Re: [Ilugc] [OT] Suggestion for controlling Arduino with Android over blue tooth
Hi, What is the robot controller you are going to use? Can you send me a link to the product? Re: [Ilugc] [OT] Suggestion for controlling Arduino with Android over blue tooth
For the Arduino boards you have selected, the following Bluetooth module: http://kitsnspares.com/user1/productdescription.asp?id=1074 from the same dealer might be a good match. One problem with Arduino is that the single serial port in the device is used for programming and monitoring the device from the PC. If you decide to use the Bluetooth module in serial mode, you need to disconnect and re connect the BT module every time you program the Arduino. Unless of course you use the BT module in SPI mode. There is not much technical information in the kitsnspares website for the BT module. Thanks for the suggestion. I will try it. -- Karthikeyan NG www.intrepidkarthi.com ___ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
[Ilugc] [OT] Suggestion for controlling Arduino with Android over blue tooth
Hi, This is just for a hobby work. I want to control a hardware device from my android phone like how a RC toy works. I have hands on with Android. I can code in python as well. I am planning to purchase a ready-to-assemble robot kit from a local vendor. And I would like to have an interface with the robot and my phone over blue tooth. I hope we can create that interface with Arduino. I don't have any hands on experience with hardwares. Does anyone have experience with these kind of work before? Can anyone point out where can I start with? And also it will be good if you can mention where can I buy appropriate hardwares. My budget is around 5k. -- Karthikeyan NG www.intrepidkarthi.com ___ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
Re: [Ilugc] Frequent disconnection of Reliance data card in ubuntu
I have ubuntu 12.10 and Reliance data card. It connects to internet but in 5-10 min disconnects automatically. /var/log/syslog has logs about the disconnection. warn CDMA connection failed: (32) Sending command failed: 'Resource temporarily unavailable' Nov 27 23:48:00 shrinivasan-laptop NetworkManager[1309]: info (ttyUSB0): device state change: prepare - failed (reason 'none') [40 120 0] Nov 27 23:48:00 shrinivasan-laptop NetworkManager[1309]: warn Activation (ttyUSB0) failed for connection 'Reliance connection 1' Nov 27 23:48:00 shrinivasan-laptop NetworkManager[1309]: info (ttyUSB0): device state change: failed - disconnected (reason 'none') [120 30 0] What may be the reason? How to make the connection persistent for longer time? They have not given the any GUI tool for Linux. I am using wvdial. I faced the same issue. To keep the connection persistent, just keep pinging some url. This might be silly idea. But it works for me. It is getting disconnected because your device is losing connection to their tower/server if it is idle for around 5 minutes. Try changing your DNS entry as 8.8.8.8 but I have not tried this. -- Karthikeyan NG www.intrepidkarthi.com ___ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc

gimp is hard to use but comprehensive. I don't think it is as easy and powerful as photoshop. (I have never used photoshop) There is cinepaint. Cinepaint is a successor of GIMP :) . Re: [Ilugc] Control Your Computer With Twitter
I have already done the same thing in python script which use gnokiihttp://www.gnokii.org All that needed is a mobile phone connected to the computer running a Linux OS and the script running in the system. Now, with even a basic mobile phone without even an internet connection to the computer, the script does the thing. Also I have extended this to 'Mobile terminal' by which one can execute most of the commands in the computer(Linux box) remotely without an internet connection. Host your code somewhere.
