I feel, keeping this subject in 5th semester is a perfect one, because, the
student will be empowered with a full-cycle programming environment, so that
they can actually do some project in the final year.

>From my analysis, most of the students could not do their final year
project, because, they dont have the technical knowhow, or familiarity with
the development environment.

Its like studying about "BIke mechanics" all the four years, and suddenly
asked to repair a bike or rida bike.

However, i feel, including LAMP as a subject may give only basic
introduction. I havent yet seen the book yet.

Unless we create a strong open source movement, that spearheads some really
serious open source products, student may not actually learn much.

We need the passion of people like "Shivaji" in our group, who had the
interest and vision to make in to GSoC.

Why dont we institutionalise such open source product development.

Still i could find that most of our developers, are familiar only with
coding, but NOT with architecture and design of the application. When i
first started working in wordpress, the first thing, i tried to understand
was the architecture of the application, that helped me a lot later.

Just my few thoughts.

Senthil

i dont agree i think its still too late , it should be early on , i
look at Learning as the other way round exploring first then teaching
the theory.

The course content looks REALLY interesting. But i feel that this is an
overkill. 2 reasons :
1. "For what the course has to offer", Fifth semester is too early. This
should be in the final year.
2. This course would fine tune a student's programming/exploratory skills,
which should be done after learning the rudiments of programming and the
associated theory.

Nevertheless, kudos!
