It's already there and works out of the box, but some apps (e.g. WxCam) that are preloaded in Suse 10.1 may not be there in the Ubuntu preload. There's nothing to prevent anyone from installing whatever they want in either distro, or adding yet another distro to the multiboot options. Of course, one could also install a zillion distros (including non-free ones) into separate VMs using VirtualBox. Or use Qemu, Xen, etc. -Siva ___ To unsubscribe, email [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe " in the subject or body of the message. http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc

Commendable objective but suggest you do it through ELCOT sponsorship. AFAIK, the laptops are going to students all over TN. > It is necessary too. What kind of software did you find difficult to install? IIRC, Apache and it's common modules are included in the media. Did you try using Yast? There is a whole bunch of repos you can add in Yast to pull software (just like in Ubuntu). -- Arun Khan ___ To unsubscribe, email [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe " in the subject or body of the message. http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc

>>VirtualBox is there. but they dont know about it. I tried installing XP inside virtual box. But the size of display area inside the virtual machine is small.. But other than that, suse linux is very nice to use with all pre-loaded softwares. For normal students, the plethora of softwares loaded in suse may be a burden.. they can in turn use ubuntu linux.. I tried to find apache server in the installation, but could not find.. Software installation is little bit difficult in suse.. [Ilugc] Linux Introduction class for ELCOT Laptop users
Friends. The laptop provided by ELCOT is preloaded with OpenSuse and Ubuntu linux. But most of the people dont know how to use them. They struggle a lot little little things like bluetooth, installing apps, games, etc It will be so nice, if we give a one day seminar on ow to use linux for all elcot laptop users. It is necessary too. I see more users remove linux and put windows with local service engineers. VirtualBox is there. but they dont know about it. It is our responsible thing to urge and train people to use linux. So, please arrange a tutorial day. We can get all the email ids from elcot. Waiting for the Linux Laptop Festival. -- dear, T.Shrinivasan My experiences with Linux are here http://goinggnu.wordpress.com For Free and Open Source Jobs http://fossjobs.wordpress.com ___ To unsubscribe, email [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe " in the subject or body of the message. http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
