Applications are published as appliances - self sufficient with the
OS, libraries and et al.

You can extend this concept with a bootable DVD that launches your
application in a browser.

DVDs can hold slideshows, movies or songs. There is a specific format
for each and
dvdauthor can help you.

But after all DVDs can also show raw files like USB sticks.

What do you mean by access the application by browser?

Do you mean file manager of the OS?
