While the letter from the AICTE chairman quotes
http://www.aicte-india.org/downloads/Commercial%20Software.pdf to show
that AICTE doesn't limit any institutions from using open source
software, there is still this document on the AICTE site
http://www.aicte-india.org/downloads/AICTE_notice.pdf that says that
this Microsoft Office 365 is mandatory for all institutions. In fact
this is the link being shared with the colleges asking them to do the
necessary to complete the migration.

AICTE does not limit any institute from use of open source
applications or open standards and, in fact, the link
http://www.aicte-india.org/downloads/Commercial%20Software.pdf on its
site informs all its stakeholders the opportunities available in an
open environment.


I think, responsible people from individual colleges should get in touch
with AICTE citing Mr.S S Mantha's statement and get this clarified.
