Synopsis

Pavuk contains a bug potentially allowing an attacker to run arbitrary
code.

Background
==

Pavuk is web spider and website mirroring tool.

Affected packages
=

---
 Package /Vulnerable/   Unaffected
---
  1  net-misc/pavuk  = 0.9.28-r1 = 0.9.28-r2

Description
===

When Pavuk connects to a web server and the server sends back the HTTP
status code 305 (Use Proxy), Pavuk copies data from the HTTP Location
header in an unsafe manner.

Impact
==

An attacker could cause a stack-based buffer overflow which could lead
to arbitrary code execution with the rights of the user running Pavuk.

Workaround
==

There is no known workaround at this time. All users are encouraged to
upgrade to the latest available version.

Resolution
==

All Pavuk users should upgrade to the latest stable version:

# emerge sync

# emerge -pv =net-misc/pavuk-0.9.28-r2
# emerge =net-misc/pavuk-0.9.28-r2

Availability

This GLSA and any updates to it are available for viewing at

[ilugd] Master CD Distributer

2004-06-29 Thread Mayank Jain
Hello,
i have been doing the task of spreading Linux (aka
freedom) from quite a long time on my own. Things are
going good, but i really find a point in joining in,
as a Master CD Distributer.

I suggest the following cost(s)
--
## Old Distro = Rs.35 per CD
## New Distro = Rs.40 per CD

Courier charges (per 5 cd packs)

Delhi= Rs.10
NCR(delhi)   = Rs.15
Adjoining States = Rs.20 - Rs.30
Central India= Rs.30 - Rs.40
South India = Rs.40 and above
Abroad = ??? (hav to confirm it)
(all courier costs are temporary, have to be confirmd
by my courierwala :-D).

Guaruntee
--
1)I will take full replacement guaruntee of bad
media, MD5 sums/working conditions/cdbeing
bootable/installable.
2)Before replacement, you have to send back me the
non-working cd(s). I'll test them if found bad,
will dispatch new ones to you immediately.
2)Any BUG in distro/software is not covered here.
3)My only aim, you should get your CD's safe sound
:-)
4)more clauses, as when we discuss things off-list.

[ilugd] Linux PDA mailing list

2004-06-29 Thread Raj Mathur
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Continuing with my current obsession, was searching Google for a
mailing list devoted to running Linux on handhelds (PDAs, mobile
phones, tablets, etc.). Couldn't find anything too exciting -- the
only forum that seemed to be even remotely related (on handhelds.org)
was full of spam.

So, (a) is there a useful, platform-independent Linux handheld mailing
that anyone knows about, and if not (b) would there be interest in
having such a list under ILUGD or LI?

 I have some queries relating to this-

Oracle is offcially supported on ES version of Redhat AFAIK. So
recommended is that.

Installing and running on debian/RHL 9/fedora has not been a problem

 Is feodra core 2 a worth to tried out as Database server or Redhat 9.0 or 8.0

 Dear all,

 We r using sendmail-8.11.6-15 ( on RH 7.3 ) for hosting a domain server
 a.co.in and we would like to receive emails for b.com ( with reply
 /forward facility from b.com )

 We have updated our DNS records ( MX ) etc.. pointing b.com to our email
 server hosting a.co.in

 Now just to be sure, request information from list on how to implement
 the virtual domain on my existing email server ?

Re: [ilugd] Anydody worked on embedded linux

2004-06-29 Thread Saurabh Agarwal
Hi,
I want to learn embedded linux and want to know which free distro i can use.
i used gooogle but most of them asked for registration(not free).
I want to use a distro which can use my P3 for testing since i dont
have real target boards. I also some non expensive idea which i can
implement to learn.

If some one is working on it and needs my help i am ready for that too.

Thanks
Saurabh

 What are your requirements i.e where you want to use
 embedded linux . There are several of them avaialble
 (a google search will reveal) or you can make ur
 custom embedded sys using debian.
