all.How can we arrange people to head a meet if we
plan it in future. Please help me .Its urgent.
Vipul,

I don't think money is required for the same.
No one needs to head a meet. Yes there needs to be one coordinator who
arranges for the Venue permission, Speakers and Meet Announcement Posters.

I volunteer to come over to your first meet and talk about How to setup and
manage a LUG + What is/should be the aim of a LUG and how to use Linux
Delhi's resources to promote your LUG

I don't forsee any monetary requirements for setting up of a LUG in a
college except for putting up a few printed posters on notice boards around
your campus.

In the posters announcing the meet mention the theme, venue, speakers and
time of the meet on the posters and mail the same thing to all your friends
whom you want to attend.
To arrange speakers mail to the ILUGD mailing list asking for volunteers to
speak in good time before the final announcement containing all these
details. While asking for speakers make sure you mention the timing and
date and venue for the meet.
Infact there is a good howto written by Ashwin ( he prefers to be called
Ashlin) on organizing a LUG meeting targeted towards newbies at
http://www.linux-delhi.org/cgi-bin/anCMS/download.cgi?action=fileDownloaddId=23

This month's ILUGD meet's venue has been promised by LL last month. The
november venue was what we heard from Manpreet as being Jamia Hamdard.
However at the meet one Oct 24th we can do a straw poll on venue for
November meet assuming 120 seater is available then.
In the meanwhile the Noida Birds of Feather were still looking for a venue
so decided to make a pitch. Not that the ILUGDites are un-welcome to the
Noida BoF meet. By all means convert it into a regular ILUGD meet. In any
case whats in a name ? and we can have two ILUGD meets in a month can't we,
NCR is big enough the more the merrier.

What script are you actually talking about? There are a variety of
options available, (SSi, HA, PVM, Beowulf, etc) depends on *what* you
actually wanna do. If your script spawns a no of processes, you can
go for SSi. Else you may need to reprogram your *script* to make it

The 2*RAM recommendation is just a suggestion for people who don't know
how much space to allocate for swap. You can have more (or less) as you
wish.

Re: [ilugd] Linux Clusters

2004-10-18 Thread Gaurav Prasad
Hi,
I am also working on a project to cluster (web application or any
UDP,TCP/IP based service ). you can try LVS (Linux virtual server
www.lvs.org ) . Its basically act as L4 switch load balancer (something
like cisco director) ...so it forwards your client request to many real
servers in back end , u can also use this Linux LA . Also try ultra
monkey (yes the name is right!!) . Though open SSI includes LVS by
default but I thought it to much to swallow for me

One problem I am facing with LVS is session presistance any body
has a solution for it ?

cheers,
gp

Hi Guys,
I need to process one script that needs high processing power. I was thinking if Linux Clusters/Distributed Computing can help me in achieving that. Any inputs/pointers in that will be highly appreciated...

What script are you actually talking about? There are a variety of
options available, (SSi, HA, PVM, Beowulf, etc) depends on *what* you
actually wanna do. If your script spawns a no of processes, you can
go for SSi. Else you may need to reprogram your *script* to make it
work on distributed environments.
