in infinite wisdom Neeraj Arora spoke thus on 09/20/05 22:32: Well this is neeraj arora Can anyone tell me any freeware on linux (PCQ2004) thru which i can edit shockwave flash files.. I am not sure if there are any Linux based utils to edit flash. However, if you want to create flash movies and control them using a free programming language , you can use PHP and ming to do that http://ming.sourceforge.net/ Pls it's reqd. urgent This line always fails to evoke any bit of sympathy from me or anyone else. [ilugd] Help with Defoma (Installing Hindi fonts in Debian)
Hi, I've downloaded Akshar.ttf (unicode hindi font) and want to install it 'system-wide', i.e. all applications installed on the system should be able to use it. I tried using 'defoma' (DEbian FOnt MAnager) to install the font, but have not been successful. Here's what I did: # mkdir /usr/share/fonts/truetype/indian # cp Akshar.ttf /usr/share/fonts/truetype/indian # defoma-font register truetype Akshar.ttf Then I looked in /var/lib/defoma/fontconfig.d/A but the symlink for Akshar.ttf was not there. I read through the manpage of defoma-font and figured out that a 'font hint' was required. This is what I did: #defoma-hints truetype Akshar.ttf Wait for second... defoma-hints Can't locate FreeType.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.8.4 /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.4 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/perl/5.8 /usr/share/perl/5.8 /usr/local/lib/site_perl .) at (eval 3) line 2. Re: [ilugd] Help with Defoma (Installing Hindi fonts in Debian)
So install FreeType.pm Which package is supposed to have it? And, why should this file suddenly disappear? I had installed the msttcorefonts package which is a collection of truetype fonts. All of them have installed correctly, apparently without FreeType.pm Nandz. -- http://nandz.blogspot.com http://foodieforlife.blogspot.com ___ ilugd mailinglist -- ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org/ Event: Freedel 2005, 17th 18th September, 2005 - http://freedel.in

No idea, but it belongs to the Font::FreeType Perl module, which you can get from the CPAN. And, why should this file suddenly disappear? No idea. It seems somewhat strange to need Font::FreeType to install a TTF, but I can't begin to guess how Debian does it. I've always just used mkfontdir (or ttmkfdir or something). Say, did you know that the first result on Google for XFree86 TrueType fonts is a page titled TrueType Fonts on Debian XFree86 4.x Systems? -- ams ___ ilugd mailinglist -- ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org/ Event: Freedel 2005, 17th 18th September, 2005 - http://freedel.in
