[ilugd] problem with login...RHEL3

2007-04-17 Thread gopal krishna

Hi All,

I had a RHEL3 Box. I was not able to login through any user. I was able to
login in single user mode but able to see all the directories but unable to
change / add any user’s.

Please help me in identifying the problem.

Thanks in Advance.

Gopal.

Are you using LDAP/NIS/NIS+ to login into the server? post the error messgae
you are getting.

No . we are not using LDAP/NIS/NIS+ for login.
After enter the password no activity is taking place ,

All my commands like ' grep , which , locate , runlevel ,passwd, etc ' are
working in single user mode but we are not able to login in Runlevel 3 and 5.

Many Thanks,
Gopal.

as a starting point, login in single user mode - run 'setup' and check
your auth settings. there is a good chance that something that is broken.
