Summary:
Provide hands on technical support for production and development servers
and development activities

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will

- Be a part of 24×7 on-call team.

- Provide support to development team.

- Perform day-to-day maintenance / monitoring for production systems

- System Admin activities include

* Performing routine audits of systems and software.
* Performing and monitoring backups
* Applying operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
* Installing and configuring new hardware and software.
* Adding, removing, or updating user account information, resetting
passwords, etc.
* Answering technical queries.
* Responsibility for security and continuously doing security audits.
* Responsibility for documenting the configuration of the system.
* Troubleshooting any reported problems.
* System performance tuning.
* Insuring that the network infrastructure is up and running.

Education and Experience Requirements:

3 - 5 years of experience in on-call support[ remote ] for production
systems.
Any Diploma / Graduate.
Certification in Linux / Unix will be a Plus.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Must demonstrate a natural inclination towards technical innovation and
creativity; attention to detail and thoroughness; ability to adapt to
shifting priorities and deadlines; and multi-tasking.
Must demonstrate accountability and dependability under pressure.
Must also demonstrate a sense of understanding and urgency for priorities.
Must enjoy working with other team members and departments in a
collaborative fashion.
Must possess excellent communication and listening skills.
Must possess confidence and ability to work without detailed technical
specifications provided up front ( to some extent ).
Must possess an ability to interpret direction from non-technically minded
persons.
Must possess good general problem-solving abilities. Able to operate
independently; be hard working; and be self-motivated as well as
self-directed.

Must have the following technical experience:

Server hardware INTEL/SUN/HP/IBM troubleshooting.
Linux - RHEL/SUSE//CentOS/Ubuntu.
Unix - Solaris,AIX,HPUX,Freebsd [ any one of these ]
Oracle RDBMS experience is a Plus.
Application and database server software management and tuning experience
preferably Apache with MySQL.
Linux troubleshooting including crash dump analysis.Networking knowledge in
the areas of LAN topology, TCP/IP, routers, firewalls.
Understanding of systems monitoring, SNMP/MIBs or other Systems Management
platforms.

Advantageous but not essential technical experience:

Microsoft Windows XP, 2003 Server and MSSQL experience.
Experience in one of the scripting languages (sh/ksh/bash, perl, csh).
Knowledge about Enterprise level storage systems like IBM,EMC storage
arrays.
Knowledge of software development using the 'C coding language.
Knowledge about content filtering tools or devices.
Knowledge in the areas of load balancing and security policies.
