I've a nokia n72 have never found the way to do so yet. I am using a N72 myself and when I purchased it more than 2 years back, I searched a lot on the same issue. The conclusion of my search was: N72 and N70 are based on Symbian S60 2nd Edition Feature Pack 2 which is a slightly older OS. Other N-Series were based on S60 3rd edition or later which supported selecting the mode on connecting the phone with a PC using USB - the modes were Data Storage and PC Suite mode, if you selected the former the phone could work as a storage device and yeah GPRS worked too. But this was not the case with N72. I tried using other software mentioned earlier in the thread like wammu/gammu but couldn't get the phone to work, although it was being detected if you issue 'lsusb' command If you can figure out (I couldn't at that time, and then never tried) how to share net over bluetooth you may have a chance. -- Kartik Singhal BTech CSE Student, NIT Calicut http://www.techglider.com ___ Ilugd mailing list Ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd ___ Ilugd mailing list Ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd

Re: [ilugd] Calling all Apache Solr/open-source search engine users in Delhi/NCR
Hi, Thank you for all the responses. It seems that there is some interest in the area. We can go ahead, and meet up, probably along with a ILUG-Delhi meeting. For the people who proposed meeting in Oct., we can have another one then. So, I would like to ask for responses to two questions for the meeting: * When? The coming weekend (27th/28th) should work, but I might be out of town. Will know by Tue. or so. * Where? Choices are Delhi (probably JNU), or Gurgaon (a company there for whom we are doing some Solr work have volunteered their premises, but I would have to check on whether these are available on the weekend). As a plus point (for some), the office is right across the highway from the Howzzat micro-brewery. I think you need to install libopensync0 and opensync-plugin-file for this. I had some trouble in installing libopensync0 on debian sid because for some reason it was not in the repos. I am afraid I don't remember how I managed to do it. Vikas ___ Ilugd mailing list Ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd

Depends on how you connect the phone to the PC. If you use a USB cable, it is likely that the phone is connected as /dev/ttyUSBX or similar. Use the dmesg command to find out immediately after connecting the phone. Next, you can use a normal dialler, like wvdial /kppp to establish the connection. You can also use a similar procedure bluetooth; but I am not clear on the specifics. Please remember that most phones have 3 options in their menu - to connect to a pc - as a USB memory device; as a modem; as something else (like the PC suite option on Nokia devices. For connecting using bluetooth, you first pair your phone with the PC, and then use the options in the PC to establish TCP/IP over bluetooth. gnokii makes this task easier; but configuring gnokii is a real pain. wammu / gammu is for backing up addressbooks and SMS messages. Backing up would be easy; but writing data to the phone is a pain - my Nokia 5130 XpressMusic is supported for reading most date, but writing is supported only for normal address books. Thus one name - multiple number type and group type addressess cannot be written, but can be backed up. ___ Ilugd mailing list Ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd
