My all time favourite: Prozilla. Simple. Text Based. Very fast.
Beautiful: http://prozilla.genesys.ro/?p=prozilla

Option to resume as well.
Can split into as many parts as you want to.
Can give options to check for the fastest mirror.

Re: [ilugd] How to find client's IP address (or name)

2005-03-02 Thread Gaurav Vaish
To know the client IP and port through that client is connected to your
system you can use the netstat command.

Try:

$ netstat -n | grep CONNECTED

Will give you a list of live connections
-n options is to disable reverse-dns lookup allowing faster listing.
Once you grab the IPs, you may go for reverse-dns at leisure. Using
netstat to do reverse DNS results in slow-results, and at times, some
connections may get closed.

Re: [ilugd] Hosting Website site Home!!

2005-01-21 Thread Gaurav Vaish
I am not sure if this mail is applicable to you... but anyway...

Have you explored the idea of external hosting - like the one that I
am using gives me 500MB space, 2GB monthly transfer, CGI, SSI, PHP
(running Apache). The cost is only USD 35 per year. Oh yes... it
includes registering domain name also. That means less than Rs. 1600
per month. Also, I can created unlimited number of users and
sub-domains. Managing subdomain, if you want, can be pain if you do
yourself using Apache.

Yes, if you plan to use DB, if provides MySQL with one time USD 50 setup fees.

I use the hosting from mister.net.
My websites are http://www.mastergaurav.org and http://www.mastergaurav.net

Ha ha ha ha!

The things has been going on very interesting @iLUG-D, at least recently!

I just wonder how people subscribe to these lists and then ask for
unsubscription. If they know how to subscribe, they should know how to
unsubscribe.

Besides, most of the information is available in the message
footers. Are the tech people really so du** ??

Hi Sandip,

Can you let me know how to contact Manish Verman from Rediff.

Rediff has also block-listed my IP. Actually, the problem is that
dnsbl black-lists the IP and I don't know how to setup reverse DNS.

Any help in this direction would be helpful.

The issues got mixed up in the mail. :) Rediff is blocking me, and I have
blocked Indiatimes ( I dont want to make an exception to my RBL checking).

The great thing is that Manish Verma from Rediff did get in touch with me
after my mail, and offered to help. I probably have been too quick to judge
them. And he assured me that their abuse address does work and they have a
 dedicated spam team.

 Help? Well,

 1. Ask your ISP who gave you your IP to set up reverse DNS for you

 2. Set your mailserver up to accept mail for that reverse DNS record
name (say if reverse dns is set up to call itself mail.yourdomain.com
then you set your mailserver to accept mail for that name)

 3. Secure your open relay (read the faqs at http://www.dsbl.org) - dsbl
is the one that asks for reverse dns records before they consider delisting

 4. Go to http://www.dsbl.org and file your IP for a retest there
