[ilugd] Pix Firewall Monitoring Software on Linux
hey friends, I am looking for a free open source software (web based or application) through which I can monitor the Pix Firewall. What it should show Interface status or traffic , VPN Connectivity status, CPU Status, Memory Status etc. I am also running DHCP server on Pix Firewall (due to some reasons) If it can monitor that also means showing how many IPAddresses has been assigned, to whom, what is the lease time etc. then it will be very good. I know about cacti but for VPN Connectivity status one has to use telnet which I don't want to use and I don't know about monitoring DHCP server through it. Is there any other tool through which I can monitor Pix Firewaall ? I am using FC3 FC4. hey friends, I am using Squid 2.5 on FC3. There are different groups for which I want to configure squid. The types of groups in the company are a) Marketing Executives: Category Most restrictive Limit on download for example no object more than 256 kb is allowed to be downloaded, no messengers allowed, if possible banning of sending receiving of attachments through any webbased mail for example yahoo,gmail etc, banning of download movies,mpeg or audio files. b) Developers: Category Restrictive No limit on download means they can download big softwares, no messegners allowed,if possible banning of sending receiving of attachments through any webbased mail for example yahoo,gmail etc,banning of downloading of movies,mpeg or audio files. c) Admins Category Restrictive but less restrictive in comparision to Developers No limit on download means they can download big softwares, no messegners allowed, banning of downloading of movies,mpeg or audio files,banning of downloading of movies,mpeg or audio files. d) Project Managers Category Restrictive but less restrictive in comparision to Developers banning of downloading of movies,mpeg or audio files. e) Directors: Category No Restriction They are allowed to download anything they want to download, watch anything they want to watch means no restriction. My local domain and ISP domain are different. Look out for something like virtual in sendmail and their is relay host in which I have given the ipaddress/hostname of my ISP SMTP server. Hey, the drivers for this particular lan card are not built into the kernel. Do this a) Download the drivers for the lan from the site for linux b) ln -s /lib/modules/urkernal/build /usr/src/linux c) Install the drivers It worked for me for Marvel Yukon Gigabit Ethernet. You can also check with the vendor of the lan card for installing it on linux.Now a days almost all the latest lan cards comes with the linux drivers. hey friends, I am trying to copy the contents of some directories(/opt /home) on my servers to another machine through rsync. The problem I am facing is that ssh is very restricted in my domain that is ssh is running on some other port(50,000) only few users r allowed access. rsync -pzv -e ssh -l demo --port=5 --progress [EMAIL PROTECTED]::mail /home/demo/ demo.swx demo is the user on other machine and it has the rights to do ssh, the machine is running on port 5 and the file i want to copy is demo.swx.Right now I am trying to copy only one file but I need to copy few directories later on. what should be the syntax of rsync for my scenario. hey friends, I want to resize the existing partition /home.Currently /home is of 20GB and 18GB is full. There is one way I can achieve this target create a bigger partition say 35 GB(/dev/sdb8),mount this partition on /home1 copy the files and folders from /home(/dev/sda4) to /home1(/dev/sdb8), edit the entry in fstab to mount (/dev/sdb8) on /home and then reboot the system. Is there any way I can resize the partition of /home without following the above example ? The partition type id ext3 what I wanted to know is there any tool or utility on Linux which can do this? I am using FC3. [ilugd] converting php files to xml on FC3
We are working on a project which converts php files to xml. The procedure is like this php fetches the data from the database and then it converts it to the xml form. We have done this on Windows and now want to set this up on FC3 . I am not able to find the rpm for php-libxml2 and php-iconv requires php-common,db3,mm packages(only php-common is available). Most important is that whether the rpm of php that comes with FC3 does have the support for libxml2 or not. How do I know whether php has been compiled with libxml2 support or not. If php is not compiled with libxml2 support then can I configure the php with libxml2 support through php-*.scr.rpm or I have to take the php-4.3.11.tar.gz and compile it. There are even GUI frontends, e.g., qtparted, but these might have slightly reduced functionality. When manipulating partitions, it is always a good idea to back up your data ahead of time. hey friends, I was trying to configure postfix with starttls and was also configuring squirrelmail. I added few lines for squirrelmail to redirecting the traffic from port 80 to port 443.The port redirection is working properly but now I am not able view some of the directories like isoqlog and few other directories. I get this message when I try to view isoqlog or few other directories. Softwares like webmin are working properly means I can use them through browser. Forbidden You don't have permission to access /isoqlog on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. SELinux and IPTables are disabled on this sytem. Lines added in the httpd.conf for port redirection. hey friends, I am using postfix on Fedora Core3.My company has some partners and those partners have their email ids on our server and some of the email ids are shared with us (for example marketing,jobs etc...) . Now I want to seggregate the mails coming on these shared email ids based on their subject name. For example. Suppose an email is arrived at [EMAIL PROTECTED] with subject marketing executive.Now I want to forward this mail to our marketing partners to their id/ids and also want to keep one copy with us also. I don't want to forward all the mails but mails based on their subject to our partners email ids. I can't use procmail as my I am using multi-drop feature.The fetchmail directly sends the mails to the postfix,so I can't use the procmail as MDA. Hey friends, Recently I have configured LVS and Real Servers for Apache Load Balancing.Isthere any software which shows the Real Time Statistics of Clustered Servers like hard disk consumption,bandwidth consumption,CPU load,No of Connections etc.Moreover I am also looking for something like this if any of the servers goes down then email should be send to the concerned person. Hey friends, I am working in a software company which develops software for the Hospitals,Clinics etc.The application is developed in php with mysql as database.I am looking for a solution of Load Balancing Apache servers that is redirecting client requests to different Apache servers so that performance is good.I am using Fedora Core 3 . Any tool/software/tutorial will be very helpful. The idea behind backhand is that you have a single apache installation working as just the load balancer. You can keep a apache 1.x installation for mod_backhand and keep your application on Apache 2.x Thanks for your reply.Well that can be a good solutions.
