I have only tried installing once.. on my new AMD64 machine..didnt have the amd64 dvd.. so did the i386 one.. i did a basic workstation install.. didnt select the install extra packages/custom package selection.. now after the install is over.. when i wanted to install more packages.. their package tools failed.. unlike previous versions which had add/remove packages option, there was some new tool.. which kind of failed.. since it was trying to connect to the net to get repo details etc.. machine was offline (since its on dialup)... now this could be fixed with manually editing the config files to pick stuff from the DVD.. i was surprised why DVD/CD repository was not added to it by default.. when the install has been done from DVD. (this is something so natural in debian.. the default installer medium always gets added as the repository).. maybe it was isolated case.. maybe i will try again to see if i face same issue again..! but think of it this way.. while i can get around it.. someone who is just new.. bought the mag DVD.. faces similar issue..which only gives bad impression about it. My servers are still running on FC3 (from past 2 years) so is FC6 worth a change? if they aint broke..then why fix it!.. let them keep running..!
