If we go for full blown installation demo of debian,
then we might end up having just debian installati0on
demo in the meet. We can show some distilled version
to demo. I have a 3 cd installation of debian shipped
once with Developer magzine. We can demo that.

Not neccesary second PC, we can just plug the
harddisk in the existing PC.

2004-04-02 Thread vivek khurana

Hi!

Now when the topic, date and loction of meet are
finalized, its time to go for the requirements for the
meet.
I believe a full blown installation(30gb) of debian
will be a great demo. If some one can bring it
preinstalled on a harddisk, it will be great.
Alternatively, if someone has a free harddisk and is
interested in getting full debian installed on it, can
contact me atleast 5 days before meet, so tah i can
get debian installed on it.

Along with this we can have demo of knoppix and Damn
small linux (i have it with me and i will give the
demo).

Any further suggestions.

Yes. I would request RRS(Ritesh Raj Sarraf) to not touch this topic

and you should go ahead with this instead.

I am not familiar with knoppix but I recently made a presentation

Sure,

a) Debian and its philosophy.
b) Latest Development in Debian.
c) Key features/merits of Debian.

I hope these topics aren't clashing.

In that case, please update it at ILUG-D site. As the author of the event, you can
always go back and change it if need be. Others can add comments.

I recall, there was a talk about maintaining details of ILUG-D meets, agenda, minutes,
etc. I would urge you all to use ILUG-D 'Event Calendar' for it. Give it a try, you
might like it.

hey! i think both can be done. no big deal. start with 1) and flow into
2).

the desktop power talk wouldn't take more than 30 minutes, or even 40 if
you cover a whole lot of desktop toys and delights. and then we can move
into debian: Seven Steps To Sarge Samadhi: moving from RedHat/Redmond to
Debian, for the clueless in a hurry. ;-)

That's what I originally proposed!!! Please read Vivek's post.
I think Vivek wants to explain the structural differences (distro
specific quirks) which he feels has nothing to do with the Desktop
Power.
On the other hand I have a feeling that localization has more to do with
the desktop.
