In the RHCE exam the only thing of prime importance is speed. You have to be fast and sure of your approach. During the exam most people do not get a chance to go back and change/rectify their responses, so one should be very careful to understand the problem description and quickly decide on the correct approach. Again, clearing the exam is not rocket science, and with some practice and experience it is a breeze. That depends on the type of job you are looking for - in lots of cases, its better to get the employer to get you the course work/ certification.
