2005-05-19 Thread Ramnarayan.K
About the fonts :
There are a lot of hindi fonts floating around - some of them will
work and show the proper words when installed - other will continue to
show gibberish - try and get the original font used and follow the
instructions given by vivek.

convert what to jpg? the hindi words or the entire document? how long is
the document? take a screenshot of the document, open it with gimp, crop
the required portion and save it as jpg

do yu have the ttf files for the hindi fonts with yu? which distribution
are yu using? on a single user system, in a gnome environment, all yu need
to do is copy the fonts in your home directory's .fonts folder. if the
folder doesn't exist then create one

e.g.
$ echo $HOME
/home/vivek
$ mkdir /home/vivek/.fonts
$ cp hindifont.ttf /home/vivek/.fonts
$ cd /home/vivek/.fonts
$ fc-cache -f

then restart openoffice and the font should be visible. this i am assuming
is that yu're running the openoffice.org with gtk support and one of the
recent distributions
