Re: [ilugd] VSNL Broadband working on Linux?
Hello Abhay, I am using router based VSNL Broadband from past 4 months and it is really awesome. It has a nice speed and 99% uptime. The router works well with FC4, no need of any software or anything for it. I will suggest you to go for it :) -- Kind Regards Nitin Gupta CEO Xaprio Solutions http://www.xaprio.com/ http://www.roadrashers.com/ Abhay Kedia [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hello Everyone, Today I got a call from VSNL (or Tata Indicom) Broadband people. They have some attractive plans and I wish to get a connection. The executive told me that they will be providing a router for the connection but I have no idea what kind of device it will be, so I came running here. Is someone using this connection or these routers of Tata? How well are they supported on Linux? What is the experience like? I will not take this connection if it is not supported on Linux. Please help and give your suggestions. As long as your are provided with a DSL Router / Modem having an ethernet interface, you should not have any problem irrespective of the ISP or linux distribution. In case, the ISP gives you a USB device, make sure that particular model is supported on linux. -- Manish ___ ilugd mailinglist -- ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org/

That is quite reassuring :) Can you also please also tell the manufacturer/model of the router they supplied to you. May be I will force them to supply the particular model. -- Regards, Abhay ___ ilugd mailinglist -- ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org/

You just have to configure the Network Card on your linux system by supplying IP Address, Netmask, Gateway and the DNS servers. This can be either done manually by editing the configuration files or using a front end provided by your distribution. What distribution are you using ? -- Manish ___ ilugd mailinglist -- ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd Archives at: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.delhi http://www.mail-archive.com/ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org/
