Re: Refurbished Printers?
I have purchased too much bad stuff on ebay. If you buy it on there make sure it says new. I got a nice new all in one brother printer from Best Buy for $129.00. Basically, you can get a new printer for almost the cost of the used printers and you know you will have ink. Re: strange t-bird problem
Apple mail does it too. It's the way he formats his email that is the problem, not your email program. Yeah, it drives me nuts, too. All you have to do is to create a rule to move his email to the appropriate folder when it arrives. I just haven't had the time to deal with it. I keep hoping this person figures out how to correctly configure their email program and it will stop. Shrug. It isn't you. :) On Feb 16, 2009, at 7:28 PM, Charles Lenington wrote: Mail from Wilton Shaw ignores the filter for this list and goes to inbox. I have to move it manually. Re: More eMac Problems
Its probably the Capacitors.Apple had a bad batch of them. We had 12 here that went bad and Apple replaced the Boards. You can examine them by taking off the RAM panel. They are the little round cyliners. If you see bulges or leaks they are don for as is the computer. I posted a few weeks ago about a text panic on my little boys eMac. Well it hasn't been the same since. Random lock ups when starting or using Safari and numerous Kernel Panics. I ran Disk Utility and the boot drive had an error when I ran the Verify Disc option. Something about BitMap Error. I repaired it and it was succesful and presumed everything was ok. A few days later the problem came back, so I repaired it once again, but the problem is back again. System is: eMac 1.25Ghz, 1GB RAM, 80GB hard drive (which I fitted a few months ago), running 10.4.11. Is the hard drive shot? Is it worse than that? Mac Mail unexpectedly quit
My Mail program has unexpectedly quit a couple times lately, and just happened twice today. The second time I restarted, I got the dialog box/set up wizard thing that asks if you want to use new settings or original settings. I didn't know which to choose, so just quit the app and restarted my computer. I'm concerned I need to do something to fix this issue before losing all my settings and my vast quantities of saved mail etc... or if does happen again do I choose 'new settings' (are those my settings as compared to default settings?). I used to know what to do when little issues like this arose... but that was back in OS9... Suggestions? I didn't like 'Mail' when I first used it (I'd been a longtime user of Outlook Express (I think that's what it was) and then switched to Thunderbird. But somewhere along the way I went back to Mail and have become used to it, so not sure I want to make a switch again. First thing to do is back up your vast quantities of saved mail which is in your user diretcotry in the ~Library/Mail folder. Once backed up you can work on solving the problem. What does the crash log fro MAil tell you (start up the console application in ApplicationsUtilities) and click on Show log list, the crash logs are stored in ~Library/Logs/CrashReporter and has a separate log for each application. Depending on the version of OS X you're using it will look somewhat different, but this is a partial example of what one looks like: Process: Mail [376] Path:/Applications/Mail.app/Contents/MacOS/Mail Identifier: com.apple.mail Version: 3.2 (919) Build Info: Mail-919~3 Code Type: X86 (Native) Parent Process: launchd [249] Date/Time: 2008-04-14 09:52:02.631 -0700 OS Version: Mac OS X 10.5.2 (9C7010) Report Version: 6 Exception Type: EXC_BREAKPOINT (SIGTRAP) Exception Codes: 0x0002, 0x Crashed Thread: 13 Application Specific Information: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[NSCFDictionary setObject:forKey:]: attempt to insert nil value (key: MailboxUid: 0x79fce0 (relative path=, attributes=0x12))' Copy out this much of the crash log and post it here, this will help in determining your problem. -- Bruce Johnson University of Arizona College of Pharmacy Information Technology Group Institutions do not have opinions, merely customs --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to Low End Mac's iMac List, a group for those using G3, G4, G5, and Intel Core iMacs as well as Apple eMacs.
