Bondai blue iMac and linux?
I have a bondai blue iMac in it's stock configuration, complete with retore cds that I would like to tinker around with linux on. I can upgrade ram to 512mb (just haven't gotten to it yet) and am looking for suggestions. I do not want to go through the trouble of system 10 (it's a pain on my slot-load 350mhz imac) any suggestions? -christian --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are a member of the iMac Group, a group for those using Apple iMacs and eMacs. Best office version for a Blueberry G3 350mhz?
What version of office should I install on my G3 350mhz imac with 10.3.9? I have access to all versions, so whatever one you suggest is best, I shall install. thanks -Christian. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are a member of the iMac Group, a group for those using Apple iMacs and eMacs. Re: Best office version for a Blueberry G3 350mhz?
Office '04. That should run on 10.3, and it's better then Office X, and not as bloated as '08 (plus I don't think that'll run on 10.3) We ran '04 for ever. -Elliott Price Mac Computer Repair - Santa Barbara Graphic Design - Artwork Setup Websites - Low Cost Custom Websites On Oct 27, 2009, at 5:12 PM, Christian Wacker wrote: What version of office should I install on my G3 350mhz imac with 10.3.9? Re: Bondai blue iMac and linux?
Bondi iMacs are tray loaders. Good luck getting it to 512mb. I have never gotten one to more than 384. Two 256 always registered as 256 and 128 for me. Re: Bondai blue iMac and linux?
yup; 384mb is the max RAM limit for the Bondi iMacs. I wonder if they have any Ubuntu's old enough that it would work on a 233Mhz iMac? There's always Free BSD; I'm pretty sure I've seen ones that'll run on old G3's. -Elliott Price Mac Computer Repair - Santa Barbara Graphic Design - Artwork Setup Websites - Low Cost Custom Websites On Oct 27, 2009, at 5:49 PM, Gary Fortman wrote: Bondi iMacs are tray loaders. Re: Bondai blue iMac and linux?
There are no slot-loading Bondi's. The Bondi Blue iMac only shipped with 233MHz processors; and it was discontinued in January 1999 when the five Flavored iMacs came out. According to MacTracker, the Rev. B Bondi iMacs could support up to 512Mb. I think you're probably thinking of the later slot loading iMacs; but none of these came in Bondi Blue -Elliott Price Mac Computer Repair - Santa Barbara Graphic Design - Artwork Setup Websites - Low Cost Custom Websites On Oct 27, 2009, at 6:10 PM, Clark Martin wrote: Elliott Price wrote: yup; 384mb is the max RAM limit for the Bondi iMacs. Re: Bondai blue iMac and linux?
From EveryMac.com: The Apple iMac G3/350 (Slot Loading - Blueberry, No Firewire), based on the Kihei architecture, features a 350 MHz PowerPC 750 (G3) processor, 512k backside level 2 cache, 64 MB of RAM, a 6.0 GB Ultra ATA hard drive, a slot loading 24X CD-ROM drive, ATI Rage 128 VR 2D/3D (AGP 2X) graphics with 8 MB of VRAM, and a Harmon-Kardon designed sound system packed into a translucent blueberry all-in-one case design with a 15-inch CRT display. Unlike previous iMac models, the iMac Slot Loading series is convection cooled for quieter operation and lacks the internal metal housing for a more translucent appearance. Compared to the iMac G3/333 (Fruit Colors) series that it replaced, the iMac G3/350 (Slot Loading - Blueberry, No Firewire) has a slot loading CD-ROM drive -- as one would expect given its informal name -- as well as a faster processor, faster system bus, faster RAM (and more installed by default), a faster hard drive standard (Ultra ATA), a faster video processor with more VRAM, a superior sound system, and support for an optional AirPort (802.11b) wireless card. It also says that this model can unofficially support 1 Gb RAM. HTH Just a message from Doug... On Oct 27, 2009, at 9:17 PM, Elliott Price wrote: There are no slot-loading Bondi's. The blueberry is not bondi. Bondi was only the 233 tray loader.
