Re: iMac G3 as an external monitor?

2010-08-04 Thread Elliott Price
I've often wondered about that too; Never got around to testing it on
any of mine because the cable is too short to reach another computer...
Theoretically, the iMac would have to be on, otherwise the monitor
won't get power, since the DB-15 is just the display data and not
power. You'll also probably need a DB-15 extension, or a DB-15 to VGA
with a VGA extension.

If you do try it, let us know how it goes.

 Emma,

You're doing great! Thankfully, little kids don't have the misguided
latest and greatest concept. Classic is forever... :-)

It would be good to know what software are you using, and to what
 purposes.

 All the best,

 Felix

Just as a comment on using all my iMacs in a rather small classroom
filled with children, it gets hot!!! And this was before when I only
had 5 working.  No air conditioning, a sunny window and x BTUs per kid
add up fast.  Luckily fall and winter take care of the problem :-)
But I scavenged 3 NEW real computer tables that will hold 4 each (kids
don't take up much room) so the lab will look great.
Thank you very mch for the support I am getting from the list!
