Thanks for the confirmation that there is something wrong with the dot
dmg file because i was working up the courage to run an archival update
of SnowLeopard.

Is there any other utility application that will mount a dot dmg file ?

Hi Bruce

do you recommend this book also for non-programmers (no experience in
Application programming)? Or is this book more for people who knows
programming, but are new to the Apple world?

cheers Sven

If you sign up as a developer (just need to fill in a web-form), you can get
access to the video tutorials from WWDC through iTunesU. There are some pretty
decent introductory tutorials there.

Disk Utility, which probably use the same core and will give the same
result. Some disc burning utilities will mound disc images. You can try
Burn, Liquid CD, Toast…

If the disk image doesn't mount in Finder it's corrupted and no utility or
program will fix this, moreover you would have to be just plain insane to rely
on a corrupted disk image for a SYTEM UPDATE!!! =8-0

Trash it, and get another copy. It's ok...Apple will make more...

Have you tried downloading it again? Usually if it won't mount it is due
to file corruption or damage.
