Bruce,

thanks for the recommendation of VueScan. Works like a charm on my
mavericks machine. Of course now I have to find a purpose for my former
scan station... ;-)

Have you tried VueScan? I’ve had good luck with a bunch of older
scanners with it; it’s also far superior scanning software than what
most manufacturers supply.

Here’s the list of supported scanners:

Robert,

Have you looked at SETI@home or Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence
(SETI)?

setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/

The thing is that they are down at the moment for maintenance.

Robert,

Not that I've ever done it, but have you looked at SETI@home or Search for
Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI)?

setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/

The think is that they are down at the moment for maintenance.

Thanks for the reminder...I remember checking VueScan before to no
avail, but it was worth another look. Unfortunately the ScanJet 4570c
isn't supported. Shame...it's a good scanner.

I did get it working on a Mac Mini running 10.9 using TWAIN, but could
only get it working from the Terminal, so I had none of the GUI tools
and instant PDF exporting that I get with the HP software.
