 Is this a sign?

I love the old Flying Toasters, but had problems (hung system, weird
displays, etc.) with it and gave it up. Unless you have found a
modern version, stated to be compatible with OS 10.5, I would be
suspicious of it. If you have found such a modern version, let us know
where to get it!

Is this a sign? I don't think it would be worth replacing the
display, if it did go out. Just want to be prepared. If the display
or something is about to go, then I need to start looking for a new
 iMac.

 Thanks in advance.

My G3 iMac has done this before. I don't think it indicates any kind
of impending screen failure. My theory is that it's some type of
process loop, but what do I know...

Re: Flashing Screen

2008-11-28 Thread skyvalley4jesus

Thanks. I'm running OS X 10.5.5. The sleep settings are set to put
the display to sleep after 30 minutes. The screen saver is the old
flying toasters. Never had a problem with it before, but perhaps that
was it. Oh, how do I reset OS X back to factory settings? Perhaps
that would help. Other than that, I can re-install OS X, but that's a
pain.

OS?  Screen saver and sleep settings?   To tell what's happening,,,
 we need details...

At first I thought the display was about to go out.  I moved the
 mouse and the screen went

My instinct is to say it's probably just the built-in screen saver
spazzing out.  I've seen it happen a number of times.  I've got it
set to randomly slide show from a folder... Now and then it just goes
nutz trying to change the pictures as fast as it can.  It ends up
flashing about the way you describe...

If that's the case, try changing the settings a bit...

Just reset the energy saver prefs to the defaults, choose a different
screen saver, log off and back in. That's all..
