G3 keyboard on G4?

2008-10-22 Thread williamd

I much prefer the compact keyboard that shipped with early imac G3
models and am continuing to use it with my G4 imac. So far the only
solution I've found for opening the cd-rom tray is to always leave a cd
in it. Then I can just do command E to eject and switch as necessary.
Occasionally I do forget, and it is a pain to get out the proper
keyboard to open the cd tray. Is there another way I don't know about
to open an empty cd-tray on my G4? Maybe a key combination I've
forgotten? Thanks

bill

For keyboards without a dedicated eject key, you use F12. Note, in
10.4 and later you have to hold the key down for several seconds to
get it to eject, since a simple keypress activated Dashboard.
