Re: PATA drive capacity question

2015-10-10 Thread NODEraser
Western Digital until very recently made a limited selection of
IDE/PATA drives under their Blue line, although they seem to be quite
expensive on retail these days. Check eBay or Amazon, you can probably
get a gently used or "refurbished" drive for a decent price. I haven't
seen any over 500 GB.

Keep an eye on what you spend, unless you're getting the drives very
cheap or free there are probably more economical options for you. You
can get a new 1 TB external USB drive for $50-60, easily.

PATA drive capacity question

2015-10-09 Thread William Spencer
Hi there: I have a 2.5 inch PATA drive enclosure (Rocport 4Cx, listed as USB
2/FireWire) and I’m thinking about finding as big a drive as I can to put in it
for backup purposes. How big do they (or did they) make them? 500 gb? More?
Less? And does anyone make them anymore? (Meaning, I suppose, where would I get
one?)

I know I would have to figure out a way to connect it to the computer, but I
don’t care about speed since this would be backup-only. Of course, if it’s
impossible to connect to this machine then that obviously answers that, but I
figure there’s no harm in asking the question. My thanks in advance!
