Hello,

This thread is a duplication of another thread on which I
replied here
http://groups.google.com/group/indiantreepix/browse_thread/thread/c4fbe5dd6ea71453/59bd350dc07f1612?hl=en

Sometimes the limited information available in the photos posted is
insufficient to make a verified confirmed IDentification.

There are species which are relatively easy to identify with certainty
and then there are species where some very specific information must
be available in order to achieve a definitive ID.

Ipomoea triloba is extremely closely related to Ipomoea trifida and
unless exact measurements of the flower width, flower tube and
measurements of the length of the stamens and pistil are taken and
made available , the best that can be arrived at from a given set of
photos is an intelligent guesstimate.

Taxonomy and 'crystal gazing' are different fields...and I doubt any
of us has a magic crystal ball to obtain scientific results...

regards,

Ron

Recently I visited a place called Kokkare Bellur. The place is named after the
birds.    Kokkare means  crane.    In this village different types of birds
like painted stork, herons etc harbour the trees.   This place is one of the
important birds sanctuaries of Karnataka.   Villagers protect the birds. I
am posting a few photos of birds on trees. This mail is on Thespesia
populnea.  Can somebody ID the birds also.

Beautiful! It has very nice fragrance and I think the necter too. When gajaras
of surangi are kept for sale we can see plenty of honey bees hovering around.
Dryed flowers are kept in saree to get the fragrance.
