Dear friends, those familiar with *Casearia* species ... please take a
re-look at the photos to check for wrong identification. The leaf does not
seem to match that of *C. ovata* (in which the leaf stalk, above has a
characteristic groove towards the leaf base, and the margin has hint of
being crenate / dentate) or that of *C. graveolens* (in which the leaf has
crenulate margin).

Are there variations in the *Casearia* spp. ?

Put here are cropped versions of my posted photos for closer look ...

... the flower cluster, the flower about 3 mm across

... the fruits, about 10 mm across

[efloraofindia:195524] Off Topic of Indian flora

2014-08-02 Thread MAX OVERTON
Greetings all,

I hope you will allow me to put this question to your members as I am at a loss
as to where to turn.

I am constructing my family tree and I need a couple of documents that seem to
be unavailable to anyone not living in India. My mother and my grandmother were
both born in Allahabad, but try as I might to contact the authorities there, I
cannot find anyone to help me. I live in Australia and cannot turn up in person
to ask for help.

Would anyone living in Allahabad be able to help me? I would be most happy to
pay any expenses incurred.

Best regards,
Max Overton

Subject: [efloraofindia:195000] Cladrastis-like tree, Manipur
To: indiantreepix@googlegroups.com

Dear All

Whilst in Manipur last November I came across a deciduous Leguminous tree
on a north facing slope in forest at c.1900m asl. To my eye it looked very
close to a Cladrastis sp, with the typical characteristic of having the
alternate pointed buds completely enclosed by the swollen bases of the
petioles. The inflorescences were terminal and short seed pods were in
evidence. It made a tree to perhaps 7m tall with a rounded crown.

According to literature there are no Cladrastis in India. Does anyone have
any ideas about other deciduous Leguminosae with the same enclosed buds?

I'm afraid I took no photos.

Many thanks
Nick Macer

[efloraofindia:195476] Iphigenia (Colchicaceae)

2014-08-02 Thread J.M. Garg
Dear members,

I have updated eFI (efloraofindia) page on *Iphigenia*

(Pl.
click).

Attempts have been made to incorporate most of the species available in
India & nearby areas with details & keys directly or through links as far
as possible. It’s quite possible that there may be some discrepancy in the
accepted names & synonyms taken from other links.

Species discussed so far in efloraofindia are given at the bottom of the
page in the form of links against Subpages. On clicking them one can see
all the details.

If someone can provide complete list of Indian species with source
references it will be wonderful.
Any comments/ corrections are welcome.
