[efloraofindia:310379] Re: New Publication Indo-Burmese Phyllanthaceae : A taxonomic Revision Authored by Tapas Chakrabarty & Nambiyath P. Balakrishnan

2018-11-12 Thread D.S Rawat
Congratulations to the authors for another quality document.
Hope to see and use it for our floristic works.
Indo-Burmes region is selected which indicate it will be having more
species than Phylanthaceae part of Indian Euphorbiaceae described in Flora
of India vol-23.

Re: [efloraofindia:310344] Vachellia FOR VALIDATION / ID :: Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park :: 24 OCT 18

2018-11-12 Thread Tapas Chakrabarty
In absence of spines and prickles this should be a member of Acacia proper,
and again may be an introduced species. I am knowing two such introduced
species, now naturalized in certain areas, both devoid of spines, A.
decurrens and A. dealbata and having the heads arranged in panicles and
this is likely to be one of them, possibly A. dealbata as the leaflets are
not sharply decurrent at the base.
Thank you.

Thanks very much Tapas ji for the information.
I read the description for *Vachellia nilotica* subsp. *kraussiana* at Plantz

It say the plant has long spines.

I thought *Vachellia nilotica* subsp.* tomentosa* bears no spines;

Hopefully next time when I go to the site will get pictures of its pods.
