According to the generic character of *Termlinalia *L., nom. cons., the
bracteoles in the genus are linear to subulate, small and deciduous. The
term bracteole is a diminutive of bract, indicating a smaller structure,
usually found subtending the flowers, flower-fascicles and at the base of
young inflorescence-shoots. Thus there is nothing wrong in observing a
small bracteate structure at the base of a mature inflorescence-branch
which has somehow persisted for a longer duration.
