Dinesh
i have been looking at this and ....
searching

seems cylindropuntia is the correct tract

and it may be this or very similar to it....
Cylindropuntia ramosissima
url http://ucjeps.berkeley.edu/eflora/eflora_display.php?tid=80399
from uc berkeley

it allows description to be exploded but not the dichotomous key...

description makes me think its likely C. ramosissima
but to make it more complicated there is a c. echinocarpa
but that looks as if it has a different growth pattern and thorns

but how did it get imported to rajasthan from mexico...
i guess it would be at the same time as when thor...the opuntias were
imported to india ....

see what you think
usha di

ps it would be interesting if you had a chance to revisit when these are
flowering and then fruiting if ever?

it would be too hot i guess. never mind
dont go ....in that heat.
