RE: Share repository between Linux and XP server
*** Before acting on this e-mail or opening any attachment you are advised to read the disclaimer at the end of this e-mail *** Hi Bear in mind that Linux is case-sensitive but Windows is only case-preserving. If you're not careful, some weirdness may result from that. And (you probably know this, but I'll say it anyway) even though you're sharing the repo, DON'T share sandboxes; that way lies newline chaos. It also might be worth running CVSNT (www.cvsnt.org) on both Linux and XP (Yes, there is a CVSNT build for Linux!). *** Before acting on this e-mail or opening any attachment you are advised to read the disclaimer at the end of this e-mail *** Hi (snip) Do I have to change my linux command? Or maybe do I have to tell my Project Manager to tune his WinCVS options? Try using '\r\n' instead of '\n' from Linux. :-) Please let me know if that fixes the problem, or if you need me to explain why it should. :-) Regards Paul Paul Grenyer Software Development Engineer http://www.paulgrenyer.co.uk --LongSig communisis chorleys ltd Manston Lane Crossgates Leeds LS15 8AH Telephone +44 (0)113 225 5271 Fax +44 (0)113 225 5921 Email [EMAIL PROTECTED] ** Please note: This e-mail and its attachments contain only the opinions of the sender and do not necessarily reflect the policy(s) of the communisis group in general. RE: Log messages in several lines
*** Before acting on this e-mail or opening any attachment you are advised to read the disclaimer at the end of this e-mail *** Hi I would like to know why that should make a difference...? Unix boxes shoudl all use the \n for newlines... As I've understood things, \r\n are old out out. Although the OP was using Linux, his boss was using WinCVS to view the log messages. Windows Controls like Multiline EditBox and RichEdit (which is what I expect WinCVS uses to view the log messages) require '\r\n' to begin a new line rather than just '\n'. I hope that clears it up. If not please get back to me.
*** Before acting on this e-mail or opening any attachment you are advised to read the disclaimer at the end of this e-mail *** Ok, I'm with you, but surely \n is understood by windows controls... it shouldn't read '\n'. If you only have '\n' on it's own it is displayed as a vertical bar, which means unprintable character. MSVC Problems
*** Before acting on this e-mail or opening any attachment you are advised to read the disclaimer at the end of this e-mail *** Hi I sent this email to the CVSNT list earlier, but didn't get any response. I'm hoping someone here might be able to help. :-) I'm new to CVSNT and I'm currently importing an MSVC project. I can import the project from the command line (I haven't got to grips with CvsIn_4_2_1_38 yet, more later) without any problem, but when I checkout the project all the folders I've produced in the class view to group my classes have disappeared. Has anyone else had this problem? I assume for some reason the file containing the info about the folders isn't being imported, but the rest of the project settings appear to be there. I've also downloaded the source for CvsIn_4_2_1_38 and can compile it, but I'm not sure what to do then. Obviously I want to install it into MSVC. Any help would be appreciated.
