See? This just proves the maxim that to get the best answer on the Internet,
don't ask a question but post incorrect information :=)

Thanks for the correction, Larry.

Not necessarily, many inetds have a ridiculously low limit on the number
of server arguments (like 8) which is why the manual explicitly mentions
the problem and the obvious solution (run a shell script).

You can have as many '--allow-root' options in your (x)inetd.conf file as
you want. Well, I suppose there is some upper limit, but for practical

Double-check to make sure the repository part of your $CVSROOT exactly

The space before myproject in the error message implies that you have
some weird character in your CVSROOT. However, since you're trying to
checkout myproject, I doubt that your repository is actually in
/data/cvs/myproject since that would imply that myproject is in
/data/cvs/myproject/myproject. You probably want your CVSROOT to be:

CVSROOT=:pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/data/cvs

The repositories have to match *exactly* -- you'll note that the

My xinetd.conf:
service cvspserver

server  = /usr/sbin/cvs-pserver
serverargs  = -f --allow-root=/u01/cvs/lempert pserver
}

I´ve restarted xinetd and even the machine and when I try to cvs login, the
error still is "No such repository"
I have also double checked filesystem permissions, and everything is OK...

Did you telnet'd your server?
You should receive "cvs [pserver aborted]:bad auth protocol start"
If not, you've got a problem in your inetd config.

I have the same problem.
I´ve set up cvs pserver and inited the repository locally on the server.
Then I edited config and created passwd, and when I try to login via WinCvs,
the error is "no such repository".
I´ve telneted to pserver and it´s working...
If I try to connect from the server, with
CVSROOT=:pserver:cvspub:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/u01/cvs/lempert I get the same
problem...
Any clues?

Did you initialise your repository on the server? (cvs init)
