 installation, which now already has 2 fronends and 2 backends.

 So the question is: is the version 2.1.11 able to interact with 2.2.0 in
 murder framework ? Is it fully compatible ?

It is not fully compatible. At the very least, ANNOTATEMORE support is
totally different (implemented to two different versions of the
specification). I can't think of anything else offhand but running such
different versions isn't advised.

What problems did you have with seen state? The file formats between the
two versions are identical.

Imap(s) (working fine, banner prints)

* OK foo Cyrus IMAP4 v2.1.11 server ready

Authentication and all operations worked fine on imap's side.

I just wonder what caused this kind block in pop3-processes or what
_could_ cause this kind problem..

Kernel: 2.4.18-14 / GNU Linux
I am using PAM (via saslauthd) for pop and imap.

No, I didn't check if I was out of entropy (random).
Log (syslog) said nothing what caused this problem and didn't even give
any hint.

This is most likely your problem, since the pop3d banner includes a

Murder, folders, outlook express

2003-05-31 Thread b
Hello,

I'm having problems with showing folders in Outlook Express 5.0 and 5.5
(haven't tested any other, 6.x?), and I'd like to understand how the
entire thing is suppose to work anyway, in general.

Here is the setup:
1 backend imapd
1 frontend (proxy)
1 ldap authentication server
1 mupdate master

These are all on their own computers, so 4 servers total.

Running 2.2 with virtual domain support.

I connect to backend, create a user [EMAIL PROTECTED] Domain is virtual.
Then go to Outlook Express, create a new account, pick up the e-mail
from INBOX. That all works fine. Then, I create a folder under OE
account I just set up, folder1. OE gives an error, saying: Your folder
was created, but it cannot be shown. Check on the backend, yes, the
folder is there, check on frontend, it sees it also.

Whatever I do, I'm not able to make it show the folder. If I go to IMAP
Folders, select it, and do show, it says: Could not show folder1.
The server refused to show it. The folder might already be shown.
About the only way to have it displayed is to go to IMAP Folders,
select folder, and do Go to. Then the folder displays on the left
under the IMAP account. But, if OE gets restarted, it goes away again.

OK, so I try Mozilla mail, set it up the same, and also I do not see
the folders. However, somewhere under IMAP options, these is something
like : Show only subscribed folders, which if I uncheck, then folders
show up.

This is all when connecting to the frontend (proxy). If I connect to
the backend directly, all works fine. Create a new folder, it shows up.
Rename it, it gets renamed..

Could someone please explain to me if this is the way it really works?
I understand that OE must be missing the show only subscribed folders
tab that needs to be disabled, my question is why, if it works when I
connect directly to backend. Is my mulder configuration missing
something? One more thing, in OE, going thru proxy, I do see two
folders always, Sent Items, and Draft. But folders I create are having
problems showing up. It doesn't matter if I create the folder on
backend directly (with cyradm), OE doesn't show it.

I've tried with altnamespace on and off. Also tried with
unixhierarchysep and allowallsubscribe on.

I've been reading the archives for a few days, but still don't
understand this, so I appreciate any help and pointers.
Thanks.

I am trying to use the above perl module with Cyrus IMAP server and am
having trouble. If I try to run on the same server connecting directly to

Has anyone used this module?

Also, the server is running Red Hat 8 Linux, with perl 5.8 installed.

Does the user have an INBOX?

The proxy server relies on knowing where the user's inbox is in order to
find their subscriptions.

If they don't have an inbox, they don't have subscriptions (and

Sieve doesn't work

2003-05-31 Thread dimon
Hi,

I just installed Cyrus-IMAPD 2.2a (from FreeBSD ports collection) on a new
server (FreeBSD 4.8) and can't get sieve to work

I have a simple script

require [vacation, reject];

# Vacation Message
if not exists [List-Id, List-Post, List-Subscribe, List-
Unsubscribe, List-Archive, List-Help]  {
vacation :days 7 :addresses [EMAIL PROTECTED] :subject Test
Vacation Just testing;
}

# Test Sieve
if header :comparator i;ascii-casemap :contains From Dmitry Sorokin   {
reject Test Sieve;
stop;
}

But nothing happens when mail gets delivered. I don't see any errors in my log
files. In message headers I see X-Sieve: CMU Sieve 2.2
That means the message was filtered by Sieve, but the rules didn't work for
some reason.
The script is activated.

Any ideas?

Best regards,
Dmitry

logging config cyr2.1

2003-05-31 Thread Stewart
Hi..

having gotten cyrus up and running i'm now at the tuning/pruning stage.
what i can't work out from the man pages (and google) is how to
configure the logging. at the moment cyrus is logging everything to
syslog but it's very verbose and i'd like a log with just the sendmail
info in it. i guess a more succinct version of the question is,
cyr_master is logging the same info to mail.log and mail.info, how can
i make it log to mail.info only so that the sendmail info in mail.log
isn't cluttered up?

thanks..
..S.

Re: Murder, folders, outlook express

2003-05-31 Thread b
For this (show the folder in OE) action, there is no log on backend.

I then ran tcpdump on backend, and there was not a single packet coming
from frontend to backend.

There were few packets from frontend to mupdate master (on its own
server), if that matters in this case:
May 30 21:30:37 mail4 mupdate[16677]: accepted connection
May 30 21:30:38 mail4 mupdate[16677]: login: murderback from
192.168.2.15 [192.168.2.15]
