you set admin in imapd.conf, normally cyrus. Then you need a unix user
cyrus, and his password it is.

It creates the mailbox on either login or mail delivery to the non
existent mailbox.

apop not working

2005-01-14 Thread Edward Rudd
I'm running cyrus Imapd 2.2.3 (Simon matter's invocha rpms) and just
noticed odd thing.. Cyrus authenticates via saslauthd over LDAP, and
pop3 user/pass works fine.. but pop3 apop fails with "user not found".
and the auth logs looks like it's trying to look the user up in the
slapdb auxprop.
Does anyone have any idea why this is occurring? and is there anyway to
simply disable apop for the time being until I upgrade to 2.2.10 and use
the ldapdb auxprop backend again?

Re: Problems with 2.2.10 on HPUX 11i

2005-01-14 Thread Connie Starr Fensky
I should have said that changing to skiplist did not help--we had to
revert back to 2.0.16 after one (very bad) day at 2.2.10, and that was a day
that the University was not in session.

I have a pretty basic system--same as can be to my old 2.0.16 one that
ran like a dream.
Does anyone have any ideas for me--here is configure script:
# csf 12/13/04 This is the command I used for configure
CC=/opt/ansic/bin/cc CFLAGS='-g +DAportable +z'
LDFLAGS='-L/usr/local5/db-3.3.11/lib
-L/usr/local5/lib -L/usr/local/lib' LIBS=-lpthread

--with-dbdir=/usr/local5/db-3.3.11 --with-bdb-libdir=/usr/local5/db-3.3.11/lib
--with-bdb-incdir=/usr/local5/db-3.3.11/include --with-lock=fcntl --with-mboxlist-db=flat
Holy Moly. A flat mboxlist? Yeah, that'll be slow. Any chance you can
upgrade that to skiplist? I don't know if that'll resolve all issues, but
I should think that would help considerably

This alone sounds like you have a serious i/o bottleneck.
What kind of storage do you have on this box? Can you analyze the situation
with iostat and similiar tools?

This looks like a wrong or mixed SASL Version. You need 2.x but use 1.x or 1.x
AND 2.x. Check with ldd ...imapd ...popd ...

Problems authenticating to Cyrus IMAP 2.2.8 as a domain-less user for server management

2005-01-14 Thread Jesper K. Pedersen
For system details please see the end of this e-mail.

Having installed Cyrus Imapd 2.2.8 / Cyrus SASL 2.1.19 I have run into a
slight problem.

We use sasldb2 for storing user/passwords
Creating regular users in the form of [EMAIL PROTECTED] works fine and we can
set up domain admins for each domain.

Delivery to Cyrus Imap and pickup of e-mail works fine.

In our imap.conf we have the admins line with:
---
admins: mailman [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED]
---

The domain admins [EMAIL PROTECTED] can manage their respective domains
using the cyradm utility.

However the user mailman (without a domain) cannot log in at all on the
imap server. I created the user without a domain using:
---
  saslpasswd2 -c mailman
---

When listing the user using sasldblistusers2 he shows up as
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]"

Trying to log into cyrus imap using cyradm using the user "mailman" I
get this:
---
cyradm -u mailman localhost
Password:

cyradm: cannot authenticate to server with as mailman
---

This means I dont have a system "master" available that can see and edit
all the domains.

Also whenever I create a new e-mail user I get a log entry in my system
log saying:
---
Jan 14 17:11:42 unix saslpasswd2: setpass succeeded for mailman
Jan 14 17:11:42 unix saslpasswd2: error deleting entry from sasldb:
DB_NOTFOUND: No matching key/data pair found
---
This happens both with a domain less name and a name with both user and
domain.

Any ideas on what the problem can be is greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Jesper K. Pedersen
